Recently we’ve noticed more and more people talking about the importance of purchasing a safe. Many reports have said that uncertainty in the marketplace has caused people to place more importance on protecting their valuables. And while we are thrilled that consumers are learning that it’s smart to keep the things they value most protected, we feel that buying a safe is always a good investment no matter the economic environment. There will always be important documents and valuables that people will want to keep private and protected.
Documents such as household deeds and insurance papers are among items that can be just as difficult to replace in the event of a fire or flood as it would be for your irreplaceable mementoes. And while your rookie of the year card or impressive stamp collection may be insured we’re pretty sure that the satisfaction of a check won’t hold the same value as ownership of such an important collectable. Buying a safe is the purchase of peace-of-mind that what is most important and irreplaceable to you will always be there, no matter the economic conditions.
Protection from Fire
While we hope you never have to experience one for yourself, a house fire can happen to anyone. In 2009 alone, U.S. fire departments responded to over 360,000 home structure fires. The average house fire heats up to a searing 1200°F (649°C). And while most paper burns at only 450°F (232°C) you can be sure that your SentrySafe Fire-Safe® branded product will be up to the challenge of keeping your most important documents and valuables protected. In fact, many SentrySafe products are classified to protect contents in temperatures up to 1850°F (1010°C). So if the worst happens to your home, you’ll know there are some things you’ll never lose; whether it’s your wedding photo, your baby’s first album, your household documents, that impressive collection of comic books you keep—you know whatever is most important to you.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. SentrySafe Fire-Safe products are classified by the independent testing group Underwriters Laboratory (UL). There are three classifications SentrySafe products fall into depending on the amount of protection and length of time you want your contents to be protected.
- ½ hour at 1550°F (843°C)
- 1 hour at 1700°F (927°C)
- 2 hours at1850°F (1010°C)
SentrySafe Fire-Safe products are also ETL verified to protect CDs, DVDs, Memory Sticks and USB drives—so your important documents are protected from fire damage however you store them.
Protection from Flood
We get it—not everyone lives on a floodplain. If you do, chances are you already understand the importance of protecting your important documents and valuables from the dangers of water damage. If you don’t, you’re probably wondering if you really need to bother with this type of protection. But when you think about it—maybe your basement floods occasionally when it rains or there’s the off chance that a pipe might burst in your home drenching all those cardboard boxes in your basement. Is there anything of value that you keep down there? Because if there is, you should probably consider storing it in something that offers a little more protection.
SentrySafe offers two type of water protection both of which gave been tested by the independent testing firm ETL Semko to ensure protection from flood and other water damage. Many of our chests and files are completely submerged during testing; while our Fire-Safe safes are tested in up to 8 inches of water—so you can rest assured your documents and valuables are safe from the threats of water damage.
Security You Can Depend On
But sometimes it’s not the elements that have you worried? Are your valuables safe in the event of a break in? Do you have 100% peace-of-mind when you go on vacation that what’s important to you will still be there when you get back? SentrySafe provides numerous proven options for keeping your business and personal information away from prying eyes. And since we’re always listening to our customers, we’re always finding new ways to improve security features to fit their needs.
And that’s just what we’ve done with the release of our new 1.2 Fire-Safe products. We’ve improved security by adding 4-large 1 inch bolts; bolts that are 60% larger than average home safes. And we’ve added a pry-resistant hinge bar that helps provide additional security from forced entry. And we’ve done it all at the same great value that we’ve always offered our customers.
Security and protection you can depend on—that’s what makes a safe such an important purchase no matter the economic changes. It’s the peace-of-mind protection you would expect owning a safe. It’s the knowledge that should the most unexpected disaster occur, you’ll be prepared. And the assurance that your most precious memories you’ve collected along the way will always be there to cherish time and time again.
